This blog is being written for ALL of you dealing with the despair and confusion of chronic pain, depression and fatique not easily explained. I am also wanting to share information, frustrations, my own experiences and to let you know there is someone else out here - you are NOT alone and you are NOT nuts! I would love to bring a smile to your face.

Our Short Trip
Our original plan was to leave Saturday and return on Monday - we ended up leaving late on Sunday and returning Monday late afternoon - hmmmmm. I think it's old age - lol at least neither of us are morning people - so we don't argue about it! We went to Fredericksburg, TX just about an hour or so away - it is well known for it's Peaches and German food. The only motel we could find (spring break) was not a place I would want to stay again - not handicap ready as we were led to believe and....well let's just say I'm glad we had our own blankets. It was only a place to sleep (sorta) and we were quick to leave in the morning. Fredericksburg is an old German town so it has narrow sidewalks and steps up from the parking areas - not easy to get around with a walker or cane. A lot of the people we encountered on Sunday were tourists but everyone is always friendly there and very accommodating - holding doors open and letting me go first. We went to several antique malls - looked at depression glass and antique furniture. The biggest problem I ran into other than issues with the walker was trying to find things to eat - I did take some gluten free snacks - they have a gluten free restaurant but it was closed on Sunday and Monday. I did get rather ill on Sunday night after eating at a German restaurant - the food tasted great but I ended up with more gluten in the seasoning than I thought would. I should have been more inquisitive when ordering - my fault totally. Breakfast the next day was great - a German bakery but was able to get a flat German pancake w/bacon and they had meringues for later in the day. It was very good and there were no after shocks from it. The high point of the trip for me was the Grape Winery - we went in for a wine tasting - it was handicap friendly and had places to sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine and/or the view of the vineyards and landscape. I will post some pictures later in the week. Very relaxing and the best part of the trip for me. When we got home on Monday afternoon - I went to bed and got up late this morning - I am still recuperating - super tired and sore but am mentally relaxed. Hope you are having a great week!!
